Whilst doctors are threatening to leave en masse from Government hospitals, new PRC immigrants and the so-called "shell-less snails" are threatening to demonstrate, perhaps it's time for a political joke. Here's one.
Whilst walking down the street one day, an MP is hit by a truck. He dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter.
"Welcome to heaven, " says St. Peter. "But to be honest, I'm so sorry, we're not sure what to do with you. You see, we seldom receive MPs around these parts. "
"No problem, just let me in", says the MP.
"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from He who must be obeyed. I'll tell you what I'm going to do. You spend one day in hell and one in heaven first. Then you can decide where you want to spend eternity."
"Really? I've already made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the MP.
"I'm so sorry but we do have our rules."
With that St. Peter escorts him to the elevator. He goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open. He finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.
Also present is the Devil, who really is a very charming and nice fellow. They have a good time dancing and telling jokes.
Before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...
The elevator goes up, up and up and the Pearly Gates reopen and St. Peter is waiting for him.
"Now it's time to visit heaven"
So 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time.
Before he realizes it, the 24 hours are gone and St. Peter returns.
"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Have you decided where you want to spend eternity?"
The MP reflects for a minute. Then he says, "Well, I would never have said it before. I mean heaven has been delightful and all but I think I would be better off in hell."
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down and down again.
The doors of the elevator open and he finds himself in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.
He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The Devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.
"I don't understand, " stammers the MP, "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a rubbish dump full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"
The Devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday, we were campaigning...Today, you voted."
Have a nice weekend.
i like it ^_^

[版主回覆03/12/2011 09:59:00]As some said in Chinese, our Legislative Assembly has turned itself into an Assembly of Garbage!
Friends are normally gathering in hell.

Good evening, my dear old friend! Well, heaven's door is always open for those who believe... However, we only believe in what we called " good lies/ illusions"... "Too much heaven's heaven no more... Much temptations, more lies and many illusions... Heaven's not there anymore, Heaven is never far from us, and yet we can't reach for it... No wonder and we keep wandering about... More and more sins like hell since we've committed..."

Politics is not an end, but a means. It is not a product, but a process. It is the art of government. Like other values it has its counterfeits. So much emphasis has been placed upon the false that the significance of the true has been obscured and politics has come to convey the meaning of crafty and cunning selfishness, instead of candid and sincere service.

[版主回覆03/13/2011 07:51:00]Politics is merely the art of government but because media coverage of of various public activities have become an integral part of politics, the complete lack of honesty and integrity displayed by many of our politicians in exploiting and manipulation of this resource of the contemporary world, in creating false "impressions" that they are working for the interest of their supporters or would-be supporters, politics has become a dirty word. But I believe that to a certain extent, we get the kind of politicians we "deserve". If good people do not speak out, the charlatans and hypocrites will have little hesitation in claiming that they speak for us and in our name.
Yes, they try to fight for universal retirement scheme, so that we no longer need to be responsible for our future. Let the future generations suffer while we sips champagne and caviar. Too much hurt has been inflicted upon one another in the political arena, nobody is behaving rationally. I came from a country where the government does not look after its people at all, at most it looks after them selectively. HK government has done a lot of good, although it must admit it can do more. There is a lot we can learn from Singapore especially the housing issue.
回覆刪除[版主回覆03/14/2011 09:37:00]I agree, everything for narrow sectional interest, doing their best to benefit the part at the expense of the whole. The HK Government can certainly do more. There is sense in the criticism of the Democratic Party that the Govt is not looking at problems strucuturally but they are overdoing. The criticism is right but they are doing it the wrong way.
I am such a bore. Great joke, good fun , cheers to a great and sunny weekend!

「人民自決 」 and 「 政府代理 」 are the two problems that can never be resolved.
