Practices at Ma Wan Park (馬灣公園練習)

Photography is a hobby that calls for constant practice. One never ceases to learn. One learns not only how to take photos of flowers. One learns too the often overlooked secrets of Nature.

I started at the entrance to the Ma Wan Park. Leaves might not be as dull as one imagined.

Differences are  what make life interesting.

One learns that even small flowers can have a remarkable variety of colors and shapes

and that they can be more intricate than one would have thought possible.

Nature is never short on symmetries. However such symmetries may not be perfect at the start.

There may be symmetries in clusters too, again never quite perfect.

Flowers may start out tiny and underdeveloped.

But even fully developed flowers may lose their colors.

Some stamens are strong and forceful.

Others, small and fragile, may hide shyly deep within the hollow formed by their petals.

But stamens too can be incredibly delicate too.

Alas, one never has enough time to probe more deeply into the mysteries of Nature. So much to savor and to learn. So little time!

  2. In response to your reply to Miss Blog below, all I could say is that you mustn't be too modest! You are indeed a poet at heart with an artistic flair! That's why it's always a pleasure to visit your Blog to enjoy those beautiful photos you have taken and to share your views of the world as well as your inner world through your camera lens. How I love the romance of delving into the secret of nature and perhaps the secret of the human heart! Oh yes, so much to learn, so little time...Happy Year of the Snake and Happy Valentine's Day!
[版主回覆02/14/2013 23:09:29]Happy Year of the Snake to you too. It's not at all difficult to do photograph. All you need is to have a decent camera and a passion for observation of the world around you. I'm sure you find endless fascination with what the camera eye will reveal to you.

  3. Thank you for the great pictures! I like #1, 2, 4,5,8 and 10. Ms Pink Director has said it well - you are a poet at heart with an artistic flair. Your garden is always so sensational, exuberant and colourful!
[版主回覆02/15/2013 22:04:59]Thank you for your encouragement. I like the colors and shapes of Nature. To me, there's nothing in the world fashioned by human technology that can remotely match the intricacies, the delicateness, the vibrant colors, the infinite subtleties of the changes of color and form of the leaves, the stems, the petals of even the most "ordinary" little plants, bushes, shrubs and trees as they imperceptibly change into new clothes with the passing of the day or of the seasons, with the rays of the sun at different times of the day. There is beauty even in the decay of Nature! I'm always seized by their incredible beauty and never tire of being fascinated by them
