The Hong Kong Flower Show appears to be a must for everyone who loves to
carry their camera around with them. For a number of years now, I always make
it a point to indulge myself a little at around this time of the year. Whether I can take good photos or not, I got the chance to look at some beautiful flowers.
And sometimes, even a beautiful girl!
Orchids are a must at many flower shows. This year, they've become our "theme" flower.
whether in special arrangements by various flower art schools
or amateur flower arrangement societies
or the booths of various participating organizations.
Most of them are yellow orchids but occasionally, you find some red ones
or mixed red and yellow
or even purple.
but they need not all have thick and waxy petals.
and grow fairly close to the ground,
Some turn towards us
Some grow together in clumps straight up,
Some extend well beyond the tips of its petals,
A big crowd drawer every year is the tulip.
.
but roses are proud and prefer to bloom alone.

But not the chrysanthemums
and the daisies, which can bloom alone
or together
or pink
or almost purple
or nest themselves at the centre below their petals.
But most of the petals stay fairly close together.
Although most of the flowers at the show are potted or pottable plants, some grow on the branches of trees,
like these.
Some flowers are specially arranged together although they belong to different species.

The petals of some of the flowers are quite delicate and look as if they were almost transparent.
But not everything at the flower show are flowers. There are also cactus leaves
and believe it or not, chillies!
No matter what the colors of the flowers or their shapes or the way they grow may be , it is obvious that some people have put in a lot of work into making it enjoyable for us. So we need to be grateful to them, whoever they are! Without them, there will simply be no flower show, good or bad!
