A Quiet Stroll(不起眼的閑逛)

It seems that whenever people go to Tung Chung, they think only of the mall there with all the so-called "factory outlets" right above the MTR station or of the cable car station for bringing them up to the Big Buddha at Ngong Ping and little else.

But there is more to Tung Chung than all those items at "bargain" prices and being simply the transit spot for the Big Buddha.

There is a huge garden just by the coast

full of trees

and even flowers blooming on some of them

quietly at the side of the garden path

One may get a glimpse of the sky above the tree tops

More clouds above the tree tops

The clouds are building up

Rarely staying the same, changing every minute.

The clouds are so high.

and when one walks towards the pier, one gets a good view of the coastline

and the reclamation where eventually, the bridge linking Hongkong-Macau-Zhuhai will touch ground.

So many layers of clouds!

A boat taking the bridge workers ashore

It's moving off again after unloading a couple of workers.

You get a good view of the sea and the surrounding mountains

and the bridge linking Tung Chung to Tsing Yi Island .

There is a long and extremely quiet broadwalk by the sea side which is good for a leisurely stroll.

Another look at the same bridge

One can also observe the cable cars going up to the Big Buddha at Ngong Ping.

When one has stared at the clouds for too long

one can always take a look at the flowers at the side of the broadwalk.

Common flowers, nothing to scream about,

and not always in the best of conditions

in all states of growth and decay

but pleasant enough because one experiences there a kind of unhurried peace increasingly difficult to find in our city streets.
