Tai O Again (重返大澳)

Tai O is one of those places one can go more than once to practice photography.

It's got hills, houses and boats

 leaves

and accidental patterns

rotten wood

rotten metal barrels

one may go into the village where one finds flowers

carefully cultivated for their colors

or both shape and color

like this

or this

or this

or for their fragrance

One finds leaves growing in the most unexpected places

like upon racks for sunning its famous shrimp paste

in the luxuriant hillsides

hanging down from above right in the middle of your path

sometimes one may find wild fruit

and those specially grown  like the pomegranates

laichees

or the "yellow skin"

One may go up the hill known as the "dragon and tiger mountain"

where one may have a view of the sea and the sky

the path is paved

There are steps going up and down

It's an easy walk

looking back

and the open sea

There are many barges: one gets a perspective on how puny our boats are compared to the clouds.

they're part of the fleet helping to build the bridge linking Hong Kong to Macau and Chuhai

a storm is gathering

one can see the rain clouds coming

they dump their moisture

after which the skies clear somewhat

one can go down after the storm

along a path which passes the old Tai O Police Station now turned into a restaurant

tree on the way to the pier

the dilapidated old pier

Village women take advantage of the low tide to dig for shell fishes

The causeway sheltering boats at the village

the beach beside the new pier

the new pier

another storm coming

The rain clouds have moved further to the right

It's late. Time to go.
