More Saturday Fun

After finishing a rather depressing article about how "reliable" the Christian Bible is, perhaps it's time to lighten up a bit. I have a sneaking suspicion that atheists and devil-lovers can't possibly come to a good end. But you never know. So let's see if at critical moments, perhaps owing to the infinite mercy of God, there just may still be a chance for the occurrence of a  "miracle".

The Atheist, A Bear And God

An atheist was walking through the woods, admiring all that the "accidents" of evolution had created.

"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. Turning to look, he saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charging  towards him.

He ran up the first path he saw as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder. The grizzly was closing in.

He ran even faster. He was so scared that tears were streaming down his cheeks before he knew it.

He looked again. The bear was even closer!

His heart was pounding. He tried to run even faster.

He tripped and fell to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up. But the bear was right over him! It was reaching out for him with its left paw. It was raising its right paw to strike at him.

At that instant the atheist cried, "Oh my God...!"

Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving.

A bright light was then shining upon the man. A voice came out of the sky: "You have denied my existence all these years, teaching others that I don't exist. You even  credited creation to a cosmic accident. Do you seriously expect me to help you now? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light.

"It would be hypocritical for me to ask to be religious after all these years. But perhaps you could make the bear religious?"

"Very well" said the voice.

The light went out. The river ran. The sounds of the forest resumed... and then the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together and bowed its head. It started to pray: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful..."

Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Stupid! He should have turned to Buddha for help.
[版主回覆07/16/2011 22:53:00]I'm sure the Buddha would have said something like "Does it matter!"

  3. While we tend to be amused by stories with a good sense of humor, one with God's sense of humor can be more amusing.

  4. Good morning, my dear old friend!  ..."Thank you, Lord!      Thanks for this Saturday fun I've just received, I'm gladly thankful! "  ..." Praying for food, preying for thoughts...        For the energy I'm going to consume,          Food for power,            Preying for my daily energy supply,              For work and for joy,                Thoughts that I've had in my mind..."

[版主回覆07/17/2011 07:16:00]My friend, you don't have to pray or prey for anything. You've already got everything you need, to excess! If ever there should still be anything which you may like to have more, it may well be that precious commodity called time!

  8. God is vain, jealous and genocidal. The only sin of an atheist is not believing in Him!
[版主回覆03/22/2012 03:32:37]We don't know what or how God is or may be, if he exists.. But the kind of God his followers make him out to be do sometimes may have the characteristics you mentioned.
