I do not know what others get from being constantly exposed to flowers. For me, I am always surprised at the vibrancy of their colors, the intricacy of their forms and their quiet and humble resilience. They're my teachers.
The heart of a tiger lotus (虎齒葉睡蓮)
A balloon flower (桔梗) in bloom
Another small flower in bloom
Flowers dancing in the wind.
A jasmine. Beneath it, to its left, we find in brown, the withered remains of another flower, its head down.
Nearby, some other flowers about to fade, already drooping.
And a little further on, we see the remains of another withered flower in the background.
Next to it, a tattered rose.
Another rose battered by the elements, all discolored.

But that doesn't seem to bother this bud of the pilose cocklebur (龍牙草)
Nor this new shoot of the Korean Mint. (藿香). Life goes on.
So goes the Chinese saying:「人無千日好, 花無百日紅.」
回覆刪除And so lament the poets:
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.
The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he 's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he 's to setting.
That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.
Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.

The color is vivid.

What wonders captured on the lens of your camera! It's not just the glorious blooms but somehow even the tattered, battered ones as well as the humble bud and shoot are distinguished in their own right! Bravo! And thanks for the Chinese translation which I find most helpful!
回覆刪除[版主回覆06/19/2012 08:07:16]Since taking up photography last year, I have never ceased to be amazed by Nature's beauty. Once we take off the blinkers of habit upon our eyes, Nature will be unbelievably generous in revealing to us her treasures. There's beauty everywhere, and as you say, even the bleakness of a tattered or battered rose may have a melancholic beauty all its own.
di 花影得好靚呀
